Pogba touted for Serie A return in player plus cash deal
Paul Pogba is being linked with a move away from Manchester United once more, with Inter reportedly ready to offer the midfielder a return to Serie A in a player plus cash deal, the Mirror reports.
The Frenchman realised his potential in Italy with Juventus and took the league by storm as the Old Lady established a period of dominance that has continued since his departure.
The 25-year-old made a world record move back to Manchester in 2016 but hasn’t reached the same heights in the Premier League and has had numerous falling outs with manager Jose Mourinho.
Having played a key role in France’s World Cup win in the summer, following a strong start to the current campaign Pogba’s form has nosedived once more and his inconsistency is wearing thin at Old Trafford, especially given the money they could recoup for a player that remains in high demand.
Inter are currently under FFP sanctions, meaning they cannot make any signings until the summer, though they are still free to negotiate transfers in the meantime, with former Juventus director Beppe Marotta set to take over such dealings at the club.
He is reportedly keen to exact some revenge on his former employers and beat them to the signature of their former star having been heavily linked with another bid.
Inter are thought to be ready to sweeten the deal by offering both Milan Skriniar and Ivan Perisic in a deal for the midfielder, with both having caught the eye of the Red Devils for the Milan club.
Centre-back Skriniar would be a real incentive as United aim to solve their defensive problems, and while their interest in Perisic has dwindled over the past year he is another player that would still appeal to the club, with a restructure clearly necessary.
