Everton sign Juventus striker for initial £29m fee

Everton have announced the arrival of Juventus striker Moise Kean on a 5-year deal running until the summer of 2024.

The Toffees have agreed an initial €32m (£29m) deal with Juventus plus a further €8m (£7.3m) in performance related add-ons.

Kean’s arrival solves a problem position in Everton’s squad from last season having failed to nail down a regular first-choice striker.

Juventus have allowed Kean the chance to find regular playing time elsewhere due to the competition for places at the club.

Maurizio Sarri wants to sign a new striker this summer, which would further limit Kean’s first-team opportunities.

Everton have been locked in talks to sign Kean for a number of weeks and one sticking point in negotiations was Juventus’ desire to have a buy-back clause.

The Toffees have reportedly secured a deal that does not include a buy-back clause, but Juventus will instead have first right of refusal on the Italy international.

Kean finished last season with six goals in 13 league appearances and had the best minutes-per-goal record in Serie A (one every 89.2 minutes of action).
