Lloris hints United move was on the cards

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has hinted that a move to Manchester United was on the cards this summer, but the Frenchman is adamant that he is happy at White Hart Lane.

Lloris has emerged as one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League during his three years in London, which has attracted interest from the likes of United and Real Madrid.

United were strongly linked with a move for the Spurs and France captain over the summer as a possible replacement for David De Gea, who was tipped to move to Madrid.

However, no move materialised, but Lloris has admitted that a move to Old Trafford was a possibility during the transfer window.

"A lot of things were said and written," the 28-year-old is quoted as saying on the Daily Mail website prior to France’s 1-0 win over Portugal on Friday night.

"There could have been a development there, but the desired movements didn’t happen.

"I have a lot of affection for Tottenham. I feel respected, I have a very good relationship with the staff and I’m ready to play the best season possible."

Lloris signed a new five-year deal last July at Spurs and is expected to play a key role for the team in their quest to secure a top-4 berth this season.
