Athletic Club have announced veteran striker Artiz Aduriz has put pen to paper on a new 12-month deal to extend his stay at the San Mames until June 2019.
Aduriz’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the season but Jose Angel Ziganda’s side have moved to prolong his stay at the club.
The 36-year-old has endured an unusual career after hitting his best form when entering what should have been the twilight years of his career.
In fact, Aduriz has scored at least 15 league goals in each of his last four campaigns prior to this one.
Aduriz, who has a €40m (£36m) release clause in his new contract, has scored four goals in 11 league appearances this term.
Since August 2012, only Lionel Messi (192) and Cristiano Ronaldo (174) have scored more goals than Aduriz (88) in La Liga.
