West Ham ace out for the season

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has revealed Michail Antonio will miss the remainder of the season with a troublesome hamstring injury.

Antonio has suffered with a reoccurring hamstring injury in the last few months and was forced off after just 40 minutes in West Ham’s 1-0 win over Swansea last time out.

The 27-year-old has been one of West Ham’s best players this season and his absence over their remaining six Premier League matches is a bitter blow for Bilic, as he looks to confirm the club’s place in the top-flight and also save his job.

“We are without Michail Antonio. It’s a significant injury and he’s out for the season,” the London Evening Standard quote Bilic as saying.

“It’s a big blow with Antonio because he has been good in every game. We have options up front with Andy Carroll and Jonathan Calleri.

“We’re likely going to need both Andy and Jonathan on Saturday and they’ll share the minutes on the pitch.”

West Ham ace out for the season

West Ham are eight points above the bottom three and Bilic’s future remains uncertain at the club after reports claimed the club may have looked to replace the Croatian had they lost to Swansea last time out.

Instead, a 1-0 win over their relegation strugglers has certain given them some breathing space, but Antonio’s injury will make it harder for them to steer well clear of the drop zone.

In fact, in the last two Premier League campaigns Antonio has scored more goals than any other West Ham player (17).
