Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is worried that Jürgen Klopp will excel for Liverpool.
The Reds confirmed the appointment of the former Borussia Dortmund manager on Thursday night following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers last weekend.
Excitement levels around Merseyside have understandably risen following Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool and Ferguson has revealed his concerns that United’s rivals will shine under the German’s stewardship.
"Well it’s a good appointment, I admire him," Ferguson revealed to ESPN.
"I know Jürgen pretty well through our meetings at coaches’ class in Geneva.
"Strong personality, very strong, very stubborn, determined and his performances, and his career at Dortmund was a stellar rise to the top and I think he'll do very well.
"I don't like saying that, being Liverpool, because I'm worried about it but, no, he'll do well."
Liverpool have started the season poorly and currently sit 10th in the Premier League.
