United veteran could replace Gerrard at LA Galaxy

MLS giants LA Galaxy are looking to take advantage of Wayne Rooney’s situation at Manchester United, according to The Sun.

Bruce Arena’s side are expecting to lose Steven Gerrard at the end of the season, which would free up one of their two designated player spots.

United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Rooney he must leave if he wants regular first team football, with the Galaxy ready to pounce and lure the 31-year-old to MLS.

Rooney’s reported £300,000-a-week wages will price him out of most moves, leaving a move across the Atlantic as one of his only realistic options if he isn’t willing to take a dramatic wage cut.

Despite dropping down the pecking order Rooney has registered at least two more assists than any other player for United this season in all competitions (4).
