Dortmund confirm Hummels exit plea

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed captain Mats Hummels has asked to leave the club and re-join Bayern Munich.

Hummels’ contract is due to expire at the end of next season and he has previously been linked with a move to a variety of big cubs across Europe.

However, the Germany international has made his intentions be known that he wants to return to Bayern, seven years after he left to join Dortmund.

Dortmund, however, will not roll over and allow him to walk out the door unless Bayern match their sizeable valuation of the central defender.

Hummels started the season slowly but his performances have picked up as the season has progressed. In fact, he is the highest rated central defender in the Bundesliga this season (7.41).
