Barcelona set to sign Bayern Munich midfielder in shock deal
Barcelona have hi-jacked Inter’s move for Arturo Vidal and are now poised to sign the Bayern Munich midfielder in a shock move, claims Spanish outlet SPORT.
The La Liga champions are on the market for a new central midfielder and have switched their attentions to Vidal after conceding defeat in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain ace Adrien Rabiot.
Vidal is free to leave Bayern this summer but appeared set to join Serie A giants Inter, who have made a series of impressive signings already this transfer window.
However, it has now emerged, as Barcelona did to Roma for Malcom, Ernesto Valverde’s side have come in at the eleventh hour and struck a deal for the Chile international.
Barcelona have already reached a verbal agreement with Vidal about terms on a deal and are now in the process of finalising a €30m (£26.7m) deal with their German counterparts.
Vidal has spent the last three years at Bayern after joining from Serie A giants Juventus in 2015 and now looks poised to experience his third major European league.
The 31-year-old has gradually slipped down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena in that time, starting fewer and fewer league game matches through the years.
He was limited to just 17 league starts last term but weighed in with his best goal return in a single campaign for the club (6), while also garnering his best WhoScored league rating (7.69) since the 2012/13 campaign at Juventus (7.77).
