Mourinho still unsure when Pogba will return for Manchester United
Jose Mourinho insists he still has no idea when Paul Pogba will next play for Manchester United despite returning to the club’s training complex at the end of last week.
Pogba has not featured for United since suffering a hamstring injury against Basel midway through September and has been carrying out an individual training regime out in Miami.
The France international returned to Carrington at the end of last week prompting suggestions his return was imminent, but Mourinho has clouded further doubt over his recovery after revealing he still doesn’t know when the 24-year-old will be available.
“Again, I have no idea. Honestly. I am not in control of his recovery process,” The Daily Mail quote Mourinho as saying. “He is not training with me. He is on individual work.
“For example, Marcos Rojo is working with me, with certain conditions, and I would expect him to be ready to play after the international break. I can predict that. But Paul, I have no idea.”
Pogba has missed United’s last 10 matches and his absence has particularly been missed in their last three matches, where they have only scored twice.
With Michael Carrick and Maroaune Fellaini also on the mend, it has left Mourinho with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic as his only two available central midfielders.
United play Benfica on Tuesday before travelling to Mourinho’s old stomping ground, Stamford Bridge, to face defending champions Chelsea on Sunday and the Red Devils look set to be without Pogba for both matches.
Pogba had made a flying start to the season, playing a direct hand in four goals in as many league matches (two goals, two assists).
