Chelsea given boost in pursuit of Richarlison

Watford ace Richarlison has refused to rule out a summer move to Chelsea but insists he is only focusing on life at Vicarage Road at the moment.

The Hornets completed a shock £11.2m move for Richarlison in the summer and the former Fluminense forward has impressed during his first season in English football.

Chelsea and Tottenham were both briefly linked with January moves for the 20-year-old and are still interested in his services despite the fact the Brazilian has endured a severe dip in form in recent months.

Watford will struggle to retain Richarlison’s services at the end of the season regardless of whether they avoid relegation from the Premier League and their No.11 has only fuelled speculation of a summer move.

“In the future you never know but I leave all things like that up to my agents,” he told the London Evening Standard when asked about joining Chelsea.

“At the moment my head is completely in Watford. I am not thinking about anything else and I want to help the team get as far as possible in the league. That is my objective, that is my focus and nothing else."

Richarlison was unhappy with Watford’s decision to sack Marco Silva at the end of January but Silva’s replacement, Javi Gracia, appears to have kept things under wraps for now.

After playing a direct hand in eight goals in his first 13 Premier League matches (five goals, three assists), Richarlison has failed to score since November and has only provided one assist in his last 14 league appearances.
