Mustafi set for early Arsenal exit as Inter come calling

According to reports from Italy and The Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to allow Shkodran Mustafi to leave the club just one year after signing the defender from Valencia.

Interest has emerged from Serie A and it appears as though Inter could agree a fee for the German before the window closes next week.

The Gunners’ willingness to sell the 25-year-old comes as a real shock having already sanctioned the sale of Gabriel to Mustafi’s former employers Valencia.

The Londoners are thought to be ready to sell the Germany international for the £35m fee that they signed him for last summer, with Arsenal fans understandably concerned at a lack of cover, particularly given a move to a back three.

Mustafi started 26 league matches for Arsenal last season, scoring twice and earning a solid WhoScored.com rating of 7.35. A move to Italy would see a return to Serie A for a player that featured 50 times in the league for Sampdoria piror to a switch to La Liga.
