Arsenal are preparing a sensational bid for former midfielder Cesc Fabregas, reports the Sunday Express.
The Spaniard made only his second Premier League start of the season on Saturday as Chelsea secured a 3-1 win at Manchester City.
A lack of regular game time has led to suggestions that the 29-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge next month, with Serie A pair AC Milan and Juventus believed to be keeping tabs on the player.
Arsenal, though, could be about to enter the fray for Fabregas, who left the Gunners for Barcelona in 2011 having joined the north London outfit in 2003 from the La Liga side.
The Gunners are without Santi Cazorla for the next three months after the Spaniard underwent surgery for a knee problem at the beginning of the month.
And Arsene Wenger is keen to bring Fabregas back to the Emirates in the New Year to help cover his compatriot’s absence.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will sell to a rival, however, though that is unlikely to stop Arsenal from trying their luck to sign Fabregas.
