Frank de Boer has made his first signing as Crystal Palace manager after announcing the arrival of Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan deal.
Loftus-Cheek is highly rated at the Premier League champions but has found it nearly impossible to find first-team football at Stamford Bridge after making his senior debut in the Champions League in December 2014.
However, the England U21 international will now have the chance to get regular first-team football after agreeing to join Palace for the whole of next season.
“I had the option of coming to Palace and I thought that it would be great for me,” Loftus-Cheek told Palace’s official website.
“I live not too far away, I was born in Lewisham and Palace is good club so I thought it’s a good chance to play here and be part of the the team. They have a very strong team and I’d like to be part of that this season.”
Loftus-Cheek has struggled to nail down a recognised position in midfield, as he can play deeper or in the No.10 role, so it remains to be seen where he fits into De Boer’s plans at Selhurst Park.
The England youngster showed great composure on his full Premier League debut against Liverpool in May 2015, where he finished the match with a 100% pass success rate.
