Ozil fears Arsenal days are over

Mesut Ozil believes there is a chance he has played his final game for Arsenal, claims The Daily Mirror.

Arsenal have been looking to offload Ozil since Unai Emery's arrival in the summer of 2018 but his enormous wages have proved a stumbling block for the club.

The Gunners handed Ozil a new deal worth an eye-watering £350,000-a-week at the start of 2018 and have failed to attract any suitors willing to come close to matching his salary.

Ozil has dropped even further out of favour at Arsenal this season, with the likes of Joe Willock now above the former Germany international in the pecking order for places.

The 30-year-old has only made one Premier League appearance for Arsenal this season and has made the matchday squad in the league on just two other occasions.

The fact Ozil started Arsenal's Carabao Cup clush with Nottingham Forest in a forward line of Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli tells you everything you need to know about his future under Emery.

Ozil fears Arsenal days are over

Arsenal are planning to offload Ozil in January and are even willing to subsidise part of his wages, as Manchester United did with Alexis Sanchez in the summer.

Ozil has started 21 league matches since Emery was appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor and Arsenal have a win ratio of just 47.6% in that time.

By contrast, Arsenal have won 60% of the 25 league matches Ozil has not started in the same period.
