Manchester City star set for contract talks

Manchester City are set to sit down with Raheem Sterling and his representatives over a new contract this month, reports the Sun.

The England international’s current deal runs until 2020 and the Premier League champions are keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract as a reward for his fine form.

Sterling has scored three goals in four league outings this season and has been named the WhoScored man of the match on two occasions in England’s top tier this term.

The 23-year-old moved to City from Liverpool back in 2015 for £49m and he has gone from strength to strength at the Etihad Stadium, with his game improving immeasurably since Pep Guardiola took over the reins.

Real Madrid have been monitoring any potential contractual slip up between player and club, with the European champions keen admirers from Sterling.

Sterling is expected to start for City when they take on Lyon at the Etihad Stadium tonight as the English side look to make a winning start to their Champions League campaign at their French counterparts’ expense.
