Manchester United target offered four-year deal by Everton
Everton have offered Manchester United target James Rodriguez a four-year deal to convince the Colombian to swap Madrid for Merseyside, reports Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The 28-year-old has struggled to break back into the Real Madrid first team following his return from a two-year loan stint with Bayern Munich, making just four league starts for Los Blancos.
A host of Premier League sides have been credited with an interest in Rodriguez, with United rumoured to have been frontrunners for his services earlier this month.
However, Toffees head coach Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to convince Rodriguez to move to Everton as the Italian boss seeks to improve his squad in the off season.
And Everton are hoping the offer of a lucrative four-year contract will see Rodriguez make the switch to the Merseyside outfit.
Everton are expected to undergo a major squad overhaul this summer as Ancelotti seeks to mould the squad in his image following years of sub-par investment and managerial changes, which has seen the club fail to match expectations of supporters.
The capture of Rodriguez would mark a significant signal of intent by the current board as they seek to break into the top four under Ancelotti.
