Leicester planning big money move for Manchester City striker

Leicester are plotting a £25m move for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, as Craig Shakespeare prepares to spend big this summer, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Iheanacho has been marginalised under head coach Pep Guardiola, with the Nigerian youngster making just five Premier League starts last season.

The 20-year-old frontman is behind Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the City pecking order and constant links with a move for Alexis Sanchez and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suggest that Iheanacho’s time at the Etihad Stadium is coming to its conclusion.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for the striker, but they face competition from Leicester in the race to secure his services, with the Foxes readying a big money bid for Iheanacho.

Crystal Palace and Everton have also been linked with Iheanacho, so there is ample interest in the talented striker, but Leicester look to have made the opening move to land the City man.

Shakespeare is eager to ease the striking burden on star man Jamie Vardy, with Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani both flattering to deceive following their arrivals from CSKA Moscow and Sporting CP, respectively, last year.

Leicester have already made an impact in the transfer market this summer having wrapped up the signing of Harry Maguire from Hull last week.
