Arsenal hitman an Atletico target as Griezmann replacement
Atletico Madrid will make a move for Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The France international has been strongly linked with a summer move to Manchester United, though Atletico are understandably keen to keep hold of Griezmann.
Should they lose their star attacker, the La Liga giants will target a move for Arsenal man Alexis, who is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal and has a little over a year left to run on his current contract.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to retain the Chilean’s services, yet knows he faces a struggle to keep Alexis if he opts against extending his stay in London.
Manchester City and Juventus have both been linked with a move for Alexis, though Atletico are hoping a return to Spain would convince the 28-year-old to make the move to Madrid.
Atletico would fund any move for Alexis with the money raised from Griezmann’s switch to United, which could set the Premier League side back £90m.
Only Romelu Lukaku (16) has scored more Premier League goals than Alexis (15) this season, while his WhoScored rating (7.86) is better than any other player in England's top tier this term.
