Florentino Perez calls on Neymar to join Real Madrid

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has called on Neymar to join the reigning European champions if he wants to win the Ballon d’Or.

Neymar completed a world record switch from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer in order to step out of Lionel Messi’s shadow and become the best player in the world.

The Brazil international has already been linked with a switch to Madrid in the future and Perez, who wanted to sign Neymar when he joined Barcelona in 2013, has only added fuel to the story with his latest comments.

“Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d’Or,” Perez told Spanish radio, via The Daily Telegraph. “Madrid is a club that gives a big player everything they need to do so. Everyone knows I wanted to sign him.”

There have been numerous reports of unrest at PSG, but Neymar has been a star on the pitch for the Ligue 1 giants this season.

The 25-year-old has scored 15 goals in 18 appearances across league and European competition for PSG, while also providing nine assists in that time.

In fact, the PSG No.10 is the highest rated player in both Europe’s top five leagues (8.79) and the Champions League (9.24).
