Chelsea target rubbishes talk of Paris Saint-Germain move

The agent of Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has rubbished speculation suggesting talks have been held with Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain about a summer switch.

Bakayoko is one of the Monaco players that is expected to leave the Principality Club at the end of the season after playing an integral part in their Ligue 1 title pursuit and route to the Champions League semi-finals.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the dynamic France international all season but Bakayoko has previously admitted to his admiration of PSG, which could prove a sticking point for the Premier League duo.

There were reports that said Bakayoko met with chiefs from PSG to discuss a move just hours before their 2-0 defeat at home to Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday but his advisor and brother, Abdoulaye, has rubbished those claims.

“Some media outlets are certain Tiemoue has met with PSG’s leaders to discuss a potential transfer,” he told RMC, via Agence France Presse (AFP). “He currently has the chance to compete in a Champions League final, which has not happened for a French club for 13 years! I do not understand the interest in publishing something false and farfetched as this story. “If the Turin-based media had done this, I would probably have understood better.  It is the traditional media game in the buildup to the transfer window but these particular circumstances make me break my silence.”

As it transpired, Bakayoko went on to have a disappointing match against Juventus and was directly to blame for the second goal Juventus scored after being robbed of possession just outside his own area before Gonzalo Higuain slid home a second.

Nevertheless, he has enjoyed an exceptional season on the whole. Only three players have won possession in the midfield third more times in Ligue 1 this season than Bakayoko (148).
