Leicester City and Everton are interested in making a surprise move for out-of-contract Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis in the summer, according to The Daily Mail.
Demichelis, 35, doesn’t feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans next season and his contract will not be renewed following a poor campaign for the veteran centre-back.
The Argentina international hasn’t featured for City since being hooked after 53 minutes against rivals Manchester United at the end of March after being given the run around by teenage striker Marcus Rashford.
Leicester are looking to bolster their squad after guaranteeing Champions League football next season and Demichelis would certainly add experience, although quality is debatable following his performances this season.
Everton’s defence has come under immense scrutiny this season and Roberto Martinez has earmarked the defender as a possible target in the summer to help fix their woes at the back.
City’s win ratio in the Premier League is far superior without Demichelis in the starting XI (62.5%) compared to have the Citizens have fared with him at the heart of their defence (30%).
