Tottenham rekindle interest in Premier League striker

Tottenham have earmarked Southampton striker Danny Ings as a top transfer target this summer, claims The Daily Telegraph.

The North London outfit currently face a fight to hold on to talisman Harry Kane amid interest from Manchester City but their interest in Ings does not hinge on his future.

Nuno's side are instead planning for Ings to play alongside Kane up front next season and hope to sign the former Liverpool striker in a cut-price deal.

Ings has entered the final 12 months of his current deal with Southampton and is not interested in their offer of a new long-term deal.

The 28-year-old knows his next move will likely be his last opportunity to play in Europe and has previously been linked with both Manchester clubs.

Tottenham are lining up a £20m move for the former England international, who has been a prolific goalscorer for Southampton since joining from Liverpool in 2018.

Only Kane, Mohamed Salah (both 41) and Jamie Vardy (38) have scored more Premier League goals than Ings across the last two seasons (34).
