Hammers after Song, confirms Bilic

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed the club's desire to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song permanently this summer.

Song, 27, spent last season on loan at Upton Park and the Hammers are looking to bring the former Arsenal midfielder back to east London despite an injury concern.

"Although I said I'm not going to discuss players from other teams, he is somewhere in between," Bilic said when questioned about the prospect of signing Song permanently.

"He played here on loan last year and he's a little but injured. I don't deny he was a great player who did really well last year and I would like him to stay with us."

There have been reports claiming Song has already agreed personal terms with the Hammers and is now trying to secure his release from Barcelona. Last season only Mark Noble (49.1) averaged more passes per game in the Premier League for West Ham than Song (43.5) and no Hammers player averaged more through balls per game than the Cameroonian midfielder (0.3).
