Mourinho ponders Diego Costa reunion at Tottenham

Tottenham are mulling the chance to reunite former Chelsea striker Diego Costa with Jose Mourinho, reports The Daily Mirror.

Costa has been transfer listed by Atletico and Mourinho is considering the former Spain international as he looks for cover for first choice striker Harry Kane.

Mourinho first brought Costa to the Premier League in 2014 and the 31-year-old played an integral part in two title-winning campaigns for Chelsea (2014/15 & 2016/17).

Costa forced his Chelsea exit to return to Atletico in 2017 but the combative forward has struggled for form and fitness ever since.

Diego Simeone's side are now keen to offload Costa for the second time but Tottenham's chief decision makers are concerned by the forward's history.

Tottenham have failed to find a back-up option for Kane ever since the England captain burst onto the scene six years ago.

Costa made 24 league appearances for Atletico last season but only started 14 times, returning just five goals and four assists in total.

Moreover, the Brazilian-born Spaniard mustered a pass accuracy of just 69% from just 15.7 passes pg, his lowest ever return in a single league campaign over the last 10 years.
