Manchester United are set to make Stoke veteran Lee Grant their third choice goalkeeper behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero next season, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Jose Mourinho’s side have already loaned out Dean Henderson to Sheffield United and will allow last season’s third choice goalkeeper, Joel Pereira, to find regular playing time elsewhere for the 2018/19 campaign.
Sam Johnstone is expected to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer and United will firm up a move for Grant to ensure they are well covered between the sticks for the upcoming season.
The 35-year-old was limited to three Premier League appearances for Stoke last season after playing reserve to Jack Butland.
However, Grant made 28 appearances during the 2016/17 campaign and impressed during an extended spell in the Stoke first-team when Butland was sidelined for more than a year.
Grant’s existing Stoke deal is due to expire on Sunday and he is expected to pen a 12-month deal with Mourinho’s side.
