United defender has shoulder surgery

Marcos Rojo has added to Manchester United’s defensive woes after confirming he has undergone shoulder surgery.

Louis van Gaal is already without Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones at the back and he likely to be missing Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian for their clash with Bournemouth at the weekend.

However, Rojo is now set to join the list for the foreseeable future after confirming he has had surgery on his dislocated shoulder.

The injury comes as a particular blow to Rojo, who had looked to be cementing his position as United’s regular left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw.

In fact, no Manchester United player averages more interceptions per game than Rojo in the Premier League (3).
