Sheffield United break club-transfer record for new striker

Sheffield United have announced the arrival of Swansea striker Oliver McBurnie in a club-record deal.

The Blades have agreed an initial £17m deal that could rise to as much as £20m through performance related add-ons.

Chris Wilder’s side have been pursuing McBurnie all summer and have finally made a breakthrough in negations after several rejected offers.

Sheffield United have now broken their club-transfer record four times this summer, having previously done so to land Luke Freeman, Callum Robinson and Lys Mousset.

McBurnie is Sheffield United’s eighth summer addition in total and he has put pen to paper on a x-year deal running until the summer of 20xx.

The 23-year-old has spent the last four years at Swansea after joining the club from Bradford as a 19-year-old.

McBurnie flourished for Swansea last season where he played a direct hand in 26 goals in 42 league appearances (22 goals, four assists) and won the WhoScored Man of the Match award on six occasions.
