Kante future to be resolved by new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel

New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel needs to convince N'Golo Kante his long-term future is still at the club, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Chelsea confirmed the appointment of Tuchel as Frank Lampard's successor on Tuesday on an 18-month deal.

Tuchel will take charge of his first Chelsea match when they host Wolves on Wednesday night and Kante is currently the club's only injury concern.

The former Paris Saint-Germain head coach has inherited a star-studded squad but he still has to indentify Chelsea's best XI, something his predecessor failed to do.

As well as being a highly rated coach, Tuchel has been hired to bring the best out of big summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Another problem facing Tuchel is trying to convince Kante his long-term future still belongs at Chelsea.

The France international has not signalled a desire to leave Chelsea but has not enjoyed the mass upheaval at the club over recent years.

Kante has also endured a nightmare run with injuries over the last 12 months and his form has dipped significantly after being asked to play a number of roles under different managers.

The 29-year-old was considered the best in the world in his position for his first three years in England but his performance levels have dropped off since the 2018 World Cup.

Kante didn't commit an error leading to an opposition goal across his first four Premier League campaigns (142 appearances) but has since made two in 39 games since the beginning of last season.
