Leicester identifiy potential Chilwell replacement

Leicester have bookmarked Vitesse defender Max Clark as a potential replacement for Ben Chilwell, claims The Daily Mail.

The Foxes relucantly accept the chances of Chilwell leaving to join Chelsea at the end of the season are high and are now planning for life without the England international.

Southampton are already moving to reward Ryan Bertrand with a new contract in anticipation of Leicester needing a new left-back.

However, it has now emerged Brendan Rodgers' side are considering bringing in a new left-back from abroad in order to replace Chilwell.

Former Hull City defender Clark has spent the last two years with Dutch side Vitesse and the 24-year-old's performances in the Netherlands have not gone unnoticed.

The English left-back was a standout performer for Vitesse until the Eredivisie season was curtailed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Clark has been a first-team regular for Vitesse, who have a good track record of developing English talent, ever since his arrival with 49 league appearances over the last two years.

In fact, in that time Clark has completed the most crosses (excluding corners) in the Eredivisie (57).
