Tottenham and Arsenal set for battle for Toulouse defender

North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal are tracking Toulouse defender Issa Diop and could battle it out for his signature in the summer, reports France Football.

Both Premier League sides reportedly had scouts in attendance for Toulouse’s surprise draw with Paris Saint-Germain, in which the France Under-21 international helped his side keep a clean sheet against a PSG outfit that had only recently put four past Barcelona.

The 20-year-old only put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Toulouse at the start of the season and that could force any suitor to pay out a big fee in order to secure his services in the summer.

Diop has made 20 appearances in the league for Toulouse this season and has impressively played a direct hand in four goals from centre back. In fact, only Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra (3) has registered more assists in Europe’s top five leagues of all centre-backs than Diop (2).
