Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not be the only player joining Manchester United from Paris St Germain this summer. They have once again set sights on Marco Verratti and could throw as much as €100M at Paris to bring him across the channel.
According to Corriere dello Sport, United will offer £6.7M a season to the 23 year old who has been dubbed the next Andrea Pirlo.
Verratti is currently contracted to PSG until 2020, having signed from Pescara in 2012. And there have been no indications that the club would be willing to let him go.
Since joining, only teammate Thiago Motta (8138) has completed more passes in Ligue 1 than Verratti (7663). He also has a dribble success rate of 77%, the best of any player to attempt 100+ in the last 4 Ligue 1 seasons.
The youngster was also very outspoken on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s expected move to Manchester United - and was desperate for him to stay. He spoke to the Swede often as rumours had grown saying “I always tell him to stay, but he never answers.”
“He and the club will see, I, like all my teammates, want him to stay because he’s had an extraordinary season. I don’t see anyone stronger than him.”
While Verratti has seemed settled in Paris, his strong relationship with Ibrahimovic could see him consider a future at Old Trafford.
