Everton eye audacious move for Ligue 1 sensation

Everton are sounding out a blockbuster summer move for Lille star Nicolas Pepe, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Marco Silva is determined to bolster his offensive options this summer in order to close the gap on the Premier League’s top six.

Everton have been linked with a move for Barcelona outcast Malcom in the last 48 hours but it has now emerged the Toffees are also considering Pepe of Lille.

The Ivory Coast international, who is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, was a bona fide success in Ligue 1 last season and has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Bayern Munich this summer.

Everton would have to shatter their club transfer record to land the 24-year-old, who is valued at £59m by French side Lille.

Pepe (22) finished behind only Kylian Mbappe (33) in the scoring charts in Ligue 1 last season and would certainly be a statement signing by the Merseysiders.

The Lille star was one of just three players to register double figures for goals (22) and assists (11) in Ligue 1 in 2018/19 and won the WhoScored Man of the Match award the most times in the division (13).
