Aston Villa have rewarded John McGinn with a new five-year deal running until the summer of 2024 amid interest from Manchester United.
The newly promoted Premier League side only signed McGinn 12 months ago but the Scotland international has quickly developed into one of the club’s best players.
McGinn played an integral part in Villa’s promotion-winning campaign last term and his performances even drew shock links to United.
However, Dean Smith’s side have successfully secured McGinn’s long-term future by rewarded the industrious midfielder with improved terms.
“I have loved every minute of my time at Aston Villa and I am delighted to commit myself to the club for the long term,” he told the club’s official website.

The 24-year-old scored seven goals and registered nine assists in his maiden campaign for Villa but will need to improve his disciplinary record for life in the Premier League.
McGinn remarkably picked up 14 yellow cards in the Championship last season but still garnered an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.28.
Furthermore, McGinn had the best dribble success rate in the Championship in 2018/190 (81.4%) of players that attempted at least 50 dribbles.
