Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout will return to Ligue 1 and join St. Etienne on a season-long loan deal, according to French outlet RMC, via Get French Football.
Veretout, 23, only joined Villa from Nantes last summer but the former France Under-21 international has struggled to make any real impression on English football.
The 23-year-old will now undergo his medical with St.Etienne before completing his loan switch, which will not include an option to buy at the end of the season.
Veretout hasn’t featured for Villa in the Championship this season. Of Villa players that made at least five appearances in the Premier League last term, Veretout required the fewest minutes per chance created (46.8 mins).
