West Ham eye sensational move for Juventus forward

West Ham have made an audacious enquiry for out of favour Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Hammers are on the market for a new striker after selling Marko Arnautovic to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG in a deal worth €25m.

Valencia look set to beat West Ham to Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomes and now the Premier League outfit are scrambling for other options.

Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller has reportedly snubbed West Ham’s advances in the last 24 hours and now Manuel Pellegrini’s side are sounding out Higuain.

The Argentina international has been deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus for the last 12 months following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival last summer.

Higuain spent the first half of last season on loan at AC Milan before joining Chelsea on an 18-month loan deal in January.

Chelsea opted against extending Higuain’s stay this summer despite the fact they are banned from signing new players.

West Ham eye sensational move for Juventus forward

Despite the fact Maurizio Sarri has left Chelsea to join Juventus this summer, there is still no place for Higuain at the club.

He has been linked with a move to Roma but now it has emerged West Ham are keen on handing the 31-year-old a route back to England.

Juventus will allow Higuain to join West Ham on loan next season but are adamant the Hammers will have no choice but to make his move permanent next summer for €40m (£36m).

Higuain only managed five goals in 14 league appearances for Chelsea last season, averaging a goal every 218.4 minutes of action.
