Barcelona are still interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann and could trigger his €100m (£88.3m) release clause before the end of the season, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.
It was thought Barcelona’s interested in the France international had cooled after making Philippe Coutinho the third most expensive player of all-time earlier this month.
Barcelona are already operating at their financial limit and a move to add Griezmann to their squad seemed unlikely, but Ernesto Valverde’s side are reportedly still keen on the 26-year-old.
Griezmann’s current €100m release clause will double in June and Barcelona want to avoid overspending as much as they possibly can.
Atletico have already earmarked Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as Griezmann’s replacement if they fail to keep hold of their No.7 but will face stiff competition from Liverpool.
Griezmann has played a direct hand in 10 goals in 16 La Liga appearances (five goals, five assists) so far this season but is yet to hit the same heights of the 2016/17 campaign.
