Arsenal manager Wenger sets sights on another European giant

Arsene Wenger has revealed he wants to manage another European giant after confirming he will step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season.

The Frenchman’s current Arsenal deal is not due to expire until the end of next season but Wenger revealed he has been forced into leaving the club this summer.

There has been plenty of speculation about Wenger’s next move but the 68-year-old has confirmed his intentions are to prolong his managerial career.

“I hope these are not my last European cup games – my target is to play in Europe again,” The Daily Telegraph quote Wenger as saying.

Arsenal take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday and Wenger will bid to bow out of his time at Arsenal on a high.

The Gunners need to win the Europa League to have any chance of playing Champions League football next season.

While Arsenal have been very strong at home this season, their away form has been poor.

In fact, the north London outfit have only won seven of their 24 away games in all competitions this season.
