Juventus reveal doubts in bid to sign Liverpool ace

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has revealed there are other clubs interested in Emre Can and the Liverpool midfielder might not make a decision on his future until the end of the season.

Can has entered the final six months of his existing deal at Anfield and has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Germany international is free to discuss personal terms with foreign sides and was expected to agree a Bosman transfer with Juventus this month, but now a deal is less clear-cut.

Juventus have previously admitted they will throw everything at Can in an attempt to sign the 24-year-old, but now Marotta has hinted a deal may not be achievable for the Old Lady.

“The interest is clear. We want to try and bring him to us, but we cannot do it because he currently has a contract with Liverpool,” Marotta told Italian broadcaster Premium Sport, via The Independent.

“He could renew it and, moreover, there are other teams interested in him. We want to try and bring him to Turin. I am stating this with full awareness that he might not arrive, but we need to have important objectives.”

Can has started 17 of Liverpool’s 23 Premier League matches this season and played a direct hand in four goals in that time (one goal, three assists).

Since the start of last season, only three Premier League players have committed more fouls than the German (90).
