Borussia Dortmund in agreement to re-sign Hummels from Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement in principle to re-sign Mats Hummels from Bayern Munich, claims German outlet BILD.
Hummels left Dortmund to return to Bayern three years ago having previous signed for Dortmund on a permanent deal from Bayern in 2009.
After failing in the Champions League last season, Bayern are overhauling their squad from top to bottom and prioritising talented young players this summer.
Bayern have already let Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leave the club and 30-year-old Hummels will be the next to go.
The Germany international is now on the brink of returning to Dortmund after Lucien Favre’s side agreed a reported £27m deal with Bayern.
Hummels has won three straight Bundesliga titles with Bayern but only made 20 league starts under Niko Kovac last season.
Bayern actually have a fare better win ratio in the Bundesliga when Hummels has not started a league match (87.9%) compared to when he has started for them (68.1%) in the last three years.
