Championship leaders emerge as surprise contenders for Tottenham defender
Leeds United have emerged as surprise contenders for Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, reports Football Insider.
The Argentine moved to Spurs in 2017 and was earmarked as one for the future under former boss Mauricio Pochettino.
However, Foyth has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho, who succeeded Pochettino in November, and a summer exit from north London is likely at this point.
Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, who has made just one league start this season.
The Blaugrana would supposedly face competition from Leeds for Foyth, who are looking into bringing in Premier League experienced stars ahead of their likely promotion.
Leeds have previously moved for Foyth, but their efforts to take the youngster to Elland Road have been rebuffed.
They would likely have better fortune in their quest to acquire Foyth this summer, though, with the player's agent recently admitting that his client will hold talks with Spurs about finding a new club.
Foyth's only league start this season saw him withdrawn from action at the break in Spurs' 2-2 draw at Norwich in December and he hasn't made a matchday squad for Mourinho's side this year.
