Today’s top streaks: Barcelona and PSG aiming to protect impressive records

With some of the world’s top teams in action this Saturday, we assess the longest streaks ahead of today’s games, starting with the leaders in Spain and France.

Barcelona travel to bottom club Malaga boasting the only unbeaten record in Europe’s major leagues having now played 27 LaLiga matches under Ernesto Valverde without tasting defeat.

If they are to extend that run in Andalusia they will need to do so without Lionel Messi, however, who has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons.

Paris Saint Germain are also without their star player with Neymar out injured but they will still be confident of making it 15 wins from 15 in Ligue 1 at home this season when they host Metz this afternoon.

In England, meanwhile, there is one side in action today to have already managed to go 15 unbeaten at home in the league this season, with Blackburn looking to extend that superb run - and with it their lead in League One - as they host Blackpool.

For every positive streak, however, there is always a negative, and where their lower league counterparts are revelling in home comforts, it’s had the opposite effect on Burton Albion, who are at risk of trading their place in the Championship with Rovers.

Nigel Clough’s side haven’t won at home in 14 and are back in action at the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon, hosting play-off hopefuls Bristol City.
