Berahino back in contention, says Pulis

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis says striker Saido Berahino could be recalled to the first-team this weekend just over seven days after insisting he would never play for the club again.

Berahino, 22, was left furious after Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace blocked his move through to Spurs during the final days of the transfer window and took to his official Twitter account to vent his frustrations.

However, the England U21 international has returned to training and Pulis says he could even make a stunning return to first-team action against Southampton on Saturday.

“Saido came in and was treated like everyone else, he trained well and I had no problems with his attitude,” the West Brom manager told The Daily Telegraph.

“He got his head down and we’ll assess him over the next few days. We’re keen to draw a line under it all and concentrate on playing football matches.”

The England striker has only made two appearances in the Premier League this season, earning a poor WhoScored rating of 6.20 and is yet to have a shot on target (2).
