Tottenham midfielder to undergo surgery

 

Tottenham have confirmed that midfielder Mousa Dembele will undergo surgery to correct an ongoing foot issue. 

 

The Belgian started just one of Spurs’ last five games of the season due to the problem, that coming in Thursday’s 6-1 win at Leicester. 

 

While his impact has lessened this campaign compared to last, Dembele has still gained a WhoScored rating of 7.18 in the Premier League. 

 

“Mousa Dembele will this week undergo a planned procedure to resolve a persistent problem with his left foot,” a statement read on Spurs’ official website. 

 

“The Belgium international will be unable to travel to Hong Kong for our fixture against Kitchee SC as a result, and is expected to return for pre-season.”

Dembele, 29, joins Erik Lamela and Danny Rose on the sidelines after it was decided the pair would go under the knife to correct ongoing hip and knee problems, respectively. 

 

Spurs wrapped up another successful season with a 7-1 win at Hull on the final day of the campaign as they secured 2nd spot, their highest ever finish in the Premier League.
