Everton to offer final player plus cash deal for Sigurdsson

In a final attempt to land top target Gylfi Sigurdsson, Everton are willing to add youngster Callum Connolly into a deal for the Swansea star, The Mirror claims.

The Toffees have already had two bids rejected, with the last believed to be in the region of £45m, and are now prepared to sweeten the deal by offering one of their top academy graduates in return,

The Welsh outfit have been holding out for an offer of £50m for the Icelandic international, though manager Paul Clement has stated that he is keen for a conclusion to be reached sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the saga that has seen Sigurdsson miss much of the club’s pre-season, the Swans boss admitted, "It's not something we want and we will not be allowing to drag on right until the deadline. It is not going to the end of the window, no way.

"This is something we are going to get sorted as soon as possible.”

It remains to be seen whether Everton’s offer of right-back Connolly in exchange will be enough to sweeten the deal but it seems as though the 27-year-old is nearing a move to Goodison.

19-year-old Connolly spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan in the Championship and impressed, scoring twice and averaging more tackles per game (2.4) than any teammate to make more than 15 league appearances.
