Paris Saint-Germain ready bid for Manchester United star

Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their interest in Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in the wake of Gianluigi Buffon’s departure, claims ESPN.

The Ligue 1 champions confirmed on Wednesday that Buffon will leave the club after just one season in France.

Thomas Tuchel’s side had an option to extend Buffon’s stay by a further 12 months but have opted against it in order to pursue De Gea.

The Spain international has one year left to run on his current United contract and talks have broken down.

De Gea has already rejected United’s best contract offer and now looks certain to leave the Premier League giants after eight years at Old Trafford.

PSG are willing to match De Gea’s wage demands and are expected to test United’s resolve with a £60m bid this summer.

This summer represents United’s last opportunity to make a significant return on De Gea otherwise he could run down his contract and leave for nothing at the end of next season.

De Gea has just endured arguably his worst ever season for United and has been a shadow of his usual self for the past 12 months.

The 28-year-old only kept seven clean sheets in 38 league appearances last season and committed four errors directly leading to an opposition goal in that time.
