Ndidi has Leicester medical

Leicester have moved a step closer to signing Genk midfielder Wilfred Ndidi after the exciting midfielder had his medical at the club on Monday, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Ndidi, 19, will now become Leicester’s first signing of 2017 subject to a work permit in a deal worth £14m, as Claudio Ranieri eyes January signings to steer the reigning Premier League champions clear of relegation.

The Genk teenager has caught the eye with a series of impressive performances in this season’s Europa League group campaign and his playing style has drawn comparisons with former Leicester star N’Golo Kante.

Leicester have missed Kante’s energy and ability to break down play at the heart of their midfield and Ndidi has been earmarked as the ideal player to fulfil Kante’s old job, despite his tender age.

The Nigeria international has reportedly agreed terms on a five-year deal with the Foxes but has returned back to Genk to complete their fixtures before the turn of the year.

Ndidi has completed at least 18 more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the Europa League proper this season (71).
