No offers for Liverpool target Fekir, says Lyon president

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed there is interest in Nabil Fekir but insists no offers have been made.

Fekir has emerged as Liverpool’s top transfer target in the last 48 hours and Jurgen Klopp’s side will step up their pursuit after Saturday’s Champions League final.

The France international has just completed the best season of his career and Aulas insists the Lyon captain could still end up staying at the club this summer.

After finishing third in Ligue 1, Lyon will play in the Champions league next season and Fekir still hasn’t decided if he wants to stay and lead his boyhood club in Europe’s elite competition.

“We simply know that teams are interested. His agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has told us so,” Aulas told L’Equipe, via AS. “There have been no discussions either with Nabil or with other clubs, so it’s very premature. He’s also hesitating about whether he wants to play in the Champions League with Lyon.”

Liverpool opted against replacing Philippe Coutinho in January after showing a brief interest in Monaco ace Thomas Lemar.

Klopp has cooled his interested in Lemar since then and has now identified his France international team-mate, Fekir, as the ideal replacement for Coutinho.

Fekir finished the season with 18 league goals, while only Marseille winger Florian Thauvin (13) won the WhoScored Man of the Match award more times than the 24-year-old (12).
