Brazilian side Flamengo have announced they have agreed to the sale of defender Jorge to free-scoring French side Monaco.
Jorge, 20, made his full international debut for Brazil in Wednesday’s friendly against Colombia that raised money for Brazilian club Chapecoense after establishing himself as a mainstay in the Flamengo first-team.
The 20-year-old made 87 appearances for Flamengo after breaking through the youth system in 2014 but will now make the well-trodden path from Brazil to Europe to join up with the freest scoring team in Europe’s top five leagues.
Monaco are yet to comment on the deal so it remains to be seen the fee involved or the contract Jorge will sign, but it certainly looks like the Ligue 1 leaders have added another great prospect to their squad that already boasts exciting players.
No player aged 21 or under completed more interceptions in last season’s Brasileiro than Jorge (94).
