West Ham have opted to appoint David Moyes on a deal until the end of the season after failing to coax former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to the London Stadium, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Hammers announced their decision to sack Slaven Bilic on Monday and are now reportedly poised to appoint Moyes as his successor until the end of the current campaign.
Moyes has been out of work since leading Sunderland down to the Championship last season and his appointment will polarise opinion among West Ham supporters.
However, it has now emerged that the Hammers wanted to replace Bilic with Ancelotti, who was sacked as Bayern Munich head coach at the end of September.
West Ham are one point adrift of safety following their 4-1 defeat at home to Liverpool on Saturday. Bilic’s successor will be tasked with fixing their porous defence, as the Hammers have conceded the most goals in England’s top-flight this term (23).
